Air Jordan 5 'Halloween' resale price: under its $220 retail within a week
Early pairs sold for a median of $344 in late September. From October 20 to 23 the typical pair went for $199, and only 11% of sales beat the $220 retail. Three earlier Air Jordan 5s opened under retail too, and all three were lower again a month later.

Eight days ago we wrote that the Air Jordan 5 'Halloween' had lost 42% of its first-week resale price before it even reached shops. Now it has been released, a week before Halloween. If you bought a pair to flip, or you are waiting to buy one, the question is simple: where did it land?
Less than the shop price. From October 20 to 23, the typical adult pair of the Air Jordan 5 Retro 'Halloween' sold for $199 on GOAT and StockX combined, against a $220 retail price. Only 11% of those 1,100 sales beat retail. In the last days of September, when pairs were still selling before release, the median was $344 and every one of the 138 sales was above retail.

The premium drained before release day
The price did not collapse on release day. It slid for four weeks, and release day only finished the job. Early October pairs went for about $295, the October 1-9 median was $267, and by October 10-16 it was $225, with just over half of sales (56%) still above retail. The day with the most sales in our record was October 17, which we treat as release day. In the three days from October 17 the median was $211 and 27% of sales beat retail; from October 20 to 23 it was $199 and 11%.
| Window (2026) | Median sale | Sales | Share above $220 retail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 21-30 | $344 | 138 | 100% |
| Oct 1-9 | $267 | 716 | 82% |
| Oct 10-16 | $225 | 1,669 | 56% |
| Oct 17-19 | $211 | 1,835 | 27% |
| Oct 20-23 | $199 | 1,100 | 11% (95% interval 9-13%) |
Pre-release sales are a small, eager market. We looked at where pre-release pairs come from last week; once the general release reaches shops, the scarcity that set those prices is gone.
Every adult Air Jordan 5 'Halloween' sold in late September went for more than retail. Four weeks later, almost nine in ten sell for less.
Big sizes are the exception
On GOAT, which records the size of each pair, release week prices were flat across the common sizes: medians from $200 to $214 for men's 7 to 12, with at most 34% of sales above retail in any of them. Only the sizes that sell least often held up: size 12.5 had a median of $242 (26 sales, 58% above retail) and size 15 $249 (22 sales, 82% above retail). Size 13 sat at $217 and size 14 at exactly $220.
The grade-school version, retail $155, has sold for a median of $159 on both GOAT (289 sales) and StockX (253) since October 17: about retail, no more.
Three earlier Air Jordan 5s took the same path
The Halloween is the seventh adult Air Jordan 5 general release in our record since September 2025 with enough sales to follow. They split cleanly in two.

Three opened well above retail: the Tokyo T23 (+74% in release week), the 2026 Wolf Grey (+43%) and the 2026 Black Carolina / UNC (+18%). Three opened under it: the Fire Red with black tongue (-3%), Medium Soft Pink (-3%) and the 2026 White Metallic (-14%). All three of those were lower again three to five weeks later, between 14% and 22% under retail.
| Release | Retail | Release week | 3-5 weeks later |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tokyo T23 (2025) | $215 | $375 (+74%) | $324 (+51%) |
| Wolf Grey (2026) | $220 | $315 (+43%) | $268 (+22%) |
| Black Carolina / UNC (2026) | $220 | $259 (+18%) | $269 (+22%) |
| Medium Soft Pink (2025) | $215 | $209 (-3%) | $185 (-14%) |
| Fire Red Black Tongue (2025) | $215 | $208 (-3%) | $186 (-14%) |
| Halloween (2026) | $220 | $208 (-5.5%) | not yet |
| White Metallic (2026) | $215 | $184 (-14%) | $167 (-22%) |
The Halloween's release week, at $208, sits right next to the Fire Red and the Medium Soft Pink. Three earlier shoes are far too few to call that a rule, and this is a record of what past releases did, not a forecast for this one. It does say the Halloween is not unusual: in the last year, an Air Jordan 5 that opened under retail did not climb back above it within a month.
What it means
For a buyer, the shoe now sells below the shop price on both marketplaces; in release week the median was under retail in every men's size from 7 to 12. For anyone who bought to resell, the pre-release window was the time that paid, and it has passed. You can follow the Air Jordan 5 page for prices by size and colorway, or look up this exact shoe in the price checker. For the wider picture, see how many sneakers resell above retail at all.
How we measured this
Methodology: completed sales of the adult Air Jordan 5 Retro 'Halloween' (HQ7978-001) on GOAT and StockX, September 21 to October 23, 2026, all sizes, new and used as listed; grade-school pairs (HQ7980-001) reported separately. Release day is the day with the most combined sales (October 17); release week is that day and the six after it; "3-5 weeks later" is days 21 to 34 after it, shown only with 30+ sales. Comparison releases are every adult Air Jordan 5 general release first sold since June 2025 with 400+ sales, limited collaborations (Awake NY, A Ma Maniere, PSG) and women's-only listings left out; GOAT and StockX listings of the same shoe are pooled (Fire Red: StockX only). Retail prices are the listed retail. The 95% interval on the share above retail is a Wilson interval. Sales from the last few days are still loading into our record, so the counts for October 17 onward will rise; the prices shown are medians of the sales recorded so far. Past sales, not a forecast.
