Track 1 · 1986 · hip-hop
My Adidas
Run-D.M.C.
The mention. The whole song is about the group's own adidas, which they use to argue that a kid's sneakers say nothing bad about who he is.
What happened next. During a concert at Madison Square Garden on 19 July 1986, with an adidas executive in the crowd, the group had fans hold up their adidas. That led to the first endorsement deal between a hip-hop act and a major brand, reported as $1 million. Wikipedia's Superstar article says the tour boosted Superstar sales and that a Run-D.M.C. clothing line followed.

Buggin' Out
A Tribe Called Quest
The mention. In his opening verse, Phife Dawg says he wears New Balance and turns it into a joke about not taking the 'narrow path'.
“I sport New Balance sneakers”
Phife Dawg, 'Buggin' Out' (1991), quoted by Yahoo/Footwear News
What happened next. It is one of the earliest rap name-checks of New Balance, and Complex ranked it #11 of rap's 50 greatest sneaker references (2013). Yahoo's sneaker-lyric roundup credits it with making listeners want the shoes. No sales figures were found.
Worth knowing: Phife names the brand, not a model. The 990 below is our stand-in.

Our stand-in shoe
New Balance 990v6 Made in USA 'Grey'
Phife names New Balance, not a model. Our stand-in is the current grey Made in USA 990, the line's best-known shoe. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval +6% to +9%). All 990v6 prices
Track 3 · 1995 · hip-hop / West Coast
California Love
2Pac, Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman
The mention. In his verse, 2Pac says LA wears cheap, street-level Chucks instead of expensive Bally shoes, treating the Converse as a West Coast badge.
“Chucks not Ballys”
2Pac, 'California Love' (1995)
What happened next. Complex ranked it #4 of rap's greatest sneaker references (2013), and the line is widely credited with making Chucks the shoe of West Coast rap (Chucks Connection). No hard sales data was found.

The shoe in the song
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High 'Black'
The classic canvas Chuck Taylor high-top. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval +4% to +14%).
Track 4 · 2002 · hip-hop
Air Force Ones
Nelly, Kyjuan, Ali and Murphy Lee
The mention. The whole song is Nelly and the St. Lunatics bragging about their Air Force 1 collections, including the hook about buying a fresh pair at a time.
What happened next. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nelly has said AF1s went from about $59.99 to $100 within eight months of the song, that the song 'opened Nike's eyes' to rapper deals, and that Nike sponsored part of the Nellyville Tour. These are Nelly's own claims, not Nike data.
Worth knowing: The jump from about $59.99 to $100 is Nelly's own account (interviews, 2022), not Nike data.

The shoe in the song
Nike Air Force 1 Low '07 'Triple White'
The all-white low, the look the song celebrates. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval −6% to −5%). All Air Force 1 Low white prices
Track 5 · 2003 · underground hip-hop
Saliva
Viktor Vaughn (MF DOOM)
The mention. DOOM uses a pun on the GEL cushioning in ASICS running shoes, an early rap shout-out to the brand that is a big retro trend now.
“make 'em gel like ASICs”
Viktor Vaughn (MF DOOM), 'Saliva' (2003)
What happened next. Complex ranked it #26 of rap's greatest sneaker references. It fits the story because ASICS GEL models (GEL-Lyte III, GEL-Kayano 14, GEL-1130) became streetwear staples in the 2020s, but no direct sales link to the song exists.
Worth knowing: The line is a pun on GEL, not a named model. The GEL-Kayano 14 below is our stand-in.

Our stand-in shoe
ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 'White Graphite Grey'
DOOM's line is a pun on GEL, not a model. Our stand-in is the best-selling ASICS GEL shoe in our data. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval −7% to −5%). All GEL-Kayano 14 prices
Track 6 · 2003 · hip-hop
What More Can I Say
JAY-Z
The mention. Jay-Z rewrites a famous Nas line about Timberlands to plug his own Reebok S. Carter shoes, which were on sale the same year.
“S dots on my feet”
JAY-Z, 'What More Can I Say' (2003)
What happened next. The S. Carter came out on 2003-04-18. About 10,000 pairs at $100 sold within days, reported as the fastest-selling shoe in Reebok history at the time. It was the first signature sneaker for a rapper. Jay-Z wore S. Carters again at Super Bowl LVIII (2024).

The shoe in the song
Reebok S. Carter 'White Green Red'
Not enough sales in our data
Our records hold 2 StockX sale records for it, both on February 22, 2026 at $591, and none in the last 90 days. That is too few to put a price on it, so it is left out of the rankings below. Jay-Z wore a pair again at Super Bowl LVIII (2024).
Track 7 · 2006 · hyphy / Bay Area hip-hop
Vans
The Pack
The mention. Lil B and The Pack (a Bay Area crew) celebrate skate shoes as the anti-flashy alternative to expensive basketball sneakers.
What happened next. It peaked at #58 on the Hot 100 and Rolling Stone ranked it the 5th best song of 2006. MTV first refused the video because it promoted a product, then aired a version with the brand censored. It is credited with spreading Vans and skate style among Black youth in California and launched Lil B's career.
Worth knowing: The song names the brand, not a model. The Old Skool below is our stand-in.

Our stand-in shoe
Vans Old Skool 'Black White'
The song names the brand. Our stand-in is the classic Old Skool. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval +12% to +33%). All Old Skool prices
Track 8 · 2010 · hip-hop
Nikes on My Feet
Mac Miller
The mention. A teenage Mac Miller builds the hook around a Nas line about Nikes, turning it into a carefree anthem about being young with fresh sneakers on.
What happened next. It samples Nas's 'The World Is Yours (Remix)'. The video was heavily played on YouTube, and the official upload has about 94.7M views as of 2026-10-03. It became a sneakerhead anthem, though no Nike deal or sales link is documented.
Worth knowing: The song names no model. The Dunk Low 'Panda' below is our stand-in.

Our stand-in shoe
Nike Dunk Low 'Panda'
The song names no model. Our stand-in is the Dunk Low 'Panda', one of the most-sold Nikes in our data. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval +1% to +4%).
Track 9 · 2015 · hip-hop / trap
Jumpman
Drake and Future
The mention. The chant-like hook just repeats the name of Jordan Brand's silhouette logo, turning a sneaker trademark into a party chant.
What happened next. It peaked at #12 on the Hot 100 and is certified 5x Platinum. Jordan Brand promoted Drake's OVO Air Jordan 10 'Black' with a lookbook video soundtracked by the song. Downloads jumped 431% after a 2016 Apple Music ad of Taylor Swift rapping it. Kanye's 'Facts' (below) answered it.
Worth knowing: The hook names the logo, not a shoe. The OVO Air Jordan 10 is the shoe Jordan Brand promoted with the song.

Our stand-in shoe
Air Jordan 10 Retro 'OVO Black'
The hook is the logo, not a shoe. Jordan Brand used the song to promote Drake's OVO Air Jordan 10 'Black' (2016). Year-ago change: too few sales a year ago to compare (30 in July to September 2025; we need 20+ per platform). A small sample: treat the price as a rough guide.
Track 10 · 2015 · K-pop / hip-hop
Converse High
BTS
The mention. A playful love song addressed to a girl in Converse high-tops, with the shoe as the thing the narrator can't resist.
What happened next. Korean broadcasters don't allow brand names on air, so BTS performed it on TV as 'Lovers High'. Converse later worked with BTS's BT21 characters on a Chuck Taylor collection (Korea, 2018), and V wore Chuck 70s in the 'Dynamite' video, which set off fan demand. No sales figures were found.
Worth knowing: Which colour the song describes is unverified (only a fan wiki says red), so we show the black Chuck 70 high-top.

Our stand-in shoe
Converse Chuck 70 High 'Black'
The song's colourway is unverified (a fan wiki says red), so we show the black Chuck 70 high-top, the version V wore in later years. Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (95% interval +24% to +33%). All Chuck 70 High prices
Track 11 · 2016 · R&B
Nikes
Frank Ocean
The mention. Frank Ocean uses the craving for new Nikes as shorthand for materialism, gently mocking what people chase (Billboard's reading).
What happened next. It opens Blonde. Billboard ranked it #28 and Pitchfork #25 among 2016's best songs, and NPR named the video one of 2016's best. The impact is cultural, not commercial: no Nike deal or sales link is documented.
Worth knowing: No model is named, so the numbers cover every Nike-brand sneaker in our data.
Every Nike
Every Nike sneaker in our data
Same-shoe change: median over 2,209 Nike sneakers with 20+ sales in both windows (−0.5%, 95% interval −1% to +0.5%; could be chance). Jordan Brand is counted separately and not included.

i need meds
Lil Yachty
The mention. The tie is in the video, not the lyrics: the music video first showed an unreleased black-and-red Concrete Boys Air Force 1 Low.
What happened next. Yachty's 'Concrete Boys' AF1 (named after his crew and label, 'It's Us' ad-lib on the tongue) went from a friends-and-family pair to a SNKRS release on 2024-12-02 and sold out. More colourways (a 'Lucky Green' in May 2025, then the Black/Red from this video) kept it in the news. Our own data shows this collab up +146% this year (internal, not from these sources).
Worth knowing: The link is the shoe in the video, not a lyric: Yachty shows off an unreleased black-and-red pair.

The shoe in the video
Lil Yachty x Nike Air Force 1 Low 'Concrete Boys'
The shoe is in the video, not the lyrics. This is the released White/Navy pair (December 2, 2024, $140). Year-ago change: vs the same 90 days of 2025 (+2%, 95% interval −2% to +8%; could be chance). All Concrete Boys AF1 prices
Also: the green Concrete Boys pair (released May 22, 2025) resold for a median $588 (454 pairs, 352% above its $130 retail).

Left out: the S. Carter (too few sales in our data) and Frank Ocean’s “Nikes”, which covers every Nike sneaker (452,439 pairs at a median $136). Shoes marked “stand-in” are our pick where the song names only a brand.
The song effect: only one song falls inside our data
Our sales records start in late 2024, so for 11 of the 12 songs the release is decades or years before our window. The exception is Lil Yachty’s “i need meds”, whose video came out on July 23, 2025. Here are both Concrete Boys Air Force 1s, week by week:
No visible jump at the video. The green pair was already climbing: $209 in its release week (2,164 pairs), $457 the week before the video, $486 in the video’s week and $575 by late August. The White/Navy pair drifted up the same way. A video can add to a rise like this, but this chart cannot separate it from the usual post-sell-out climb.
Over the whole year, our SneakerPulse Wrapped 2026 found the green pair the biggest riser of any sneaker: +146% on GOAT, from a median $253 in January to September 2025 to $623 in the same months of 2026 (same listing, 500+ sales in Jan-Sep 2025 and in Jan-Sep 2026). That figure is a year-on-year change, not a measure of the song.
What this shows, and what it does not
These songs made shoes part of the culture, but a famous song is not a resale premium. The shoes the songs are about are mostly everyday classics made in huge numbers (the white Air Force 1, the Superstar, the Chuck Taylor), and they resell below retail. The ones that sell above it: Concrete Boys AF1 (i need meds, +38%); OVO Air Jordan 10 (Jumpman, +25%); Chuck 70 High (stand-in) (Converse High, +19%); GEL-Kayano 14 (stand-in) (Saliva, +6%).
Prices are past sales, not a forecast and not buying advice. Lyrics are described in our own words; the few short quotes are attributed to the artist and the article that quoted them.
Questions
What song is about Air Force 1s?
Nelly's "Air Force Ones" (2002, with Kyjuan, Ali and Murphy Lee) is the best known; it reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nelly has said the shoe went from about $59.99 to $100 within eight months of the song, which is his own claim, not Nike data. Today the all-white Air Force 1 Low '07 retails at $115 and resold for a median $84 on GOAT and StockX from July 3, 2026 to September 30, 2026 (12,818 pairs). Lil Yachty's 2025 "i need meds" video shows off his Concrete Boys Air Force 1.
What rapper made adidas famous?
Run-D.M.C. made adidas a hip-hop brand. Their 1986 song "My Adidas" was about their own shell-toe Superstars, and after the group had fans hold up their adidas at a Madison Square Garden show on July 19, 1986, adidas signed them to the first endorsement deal between a hip-hop act and a major brand (reported as $1 million). The white-and-black Superstar resells for a median $62 today, below its $80 retail price.
What are the most famous songs about sneakers?
Twelve with a clear sneaker story: My Adidas (Run-D.M.C., 1986); Buggin' Out (A Tribe Called Quest, 1991); California Love (2Pac, 1995); Air Force Ones (Nelly, 2002); Saliva (Viktor Vaughn (MF DOOM), 2003); What More Can I Say (JAY-Z, 2003); Vans (The Pack, 2006); Nikes on My Feet (Mac Miller, 2010); Jumpman (Drake, 2015); Converse High (BTS, 2015); Nikes (Frank Ocean, 2016); i need meds (Lil Yachty, 2025). This page plays each one and shows what its shoe resells for now.
Do sneakers from famous songs resell for more?
Mostly not. Of the 10 song shoes in our data with a retail price, 6 resold below it from July 3, 2026 to September 30, 2026. The exceptions are newer, scarcer pairs such as the OVO Air Jordan 10 and Lil Yachty's Concrete Boys Air Force 1. Past prices are not a forecast.
Method. Songs, video IDs and sources were researched on October 3, 2026; each video is an upload from the artist’s official channel,
the label’s channel or YouTube’s official “Topic” channel, played through YouTube’s own embedded player (plays started from this page are not counted
as YouTube views). Three researched songs are not on the page: one has no official release and two were left out for tone. Shoes: where a song names a shoe we use
that shoe; where it names only a brand we chose a stand-in and say so; the S. Carter has too few sales to price. Listings matched across GOAT and StockX by SKU (men’s/unisex only).
Prices: completed GOAT and StockX sales recorded by SneakerPulse, July 3, 2026 to September 30, 2026 (90 days, UTC), sales between $0 and $30,000; median of all sales in
that window. Year-ago change: the same shoe, same 90 days of 2025, per platform (log ratio of medians) combined by sales so a shift between GOAT and StockX cannot fake a change;
2,000-draw bootstrap interval; Benjamini-Hochberg across the songs, and a change is called only when q < 0.05; 20+ sales per platform and window needed. Not size-matched.
Every Nike: all Nike-brand sneakers (no Jordan Brand, cleats or kids’ sizes); same-shoe change is the median over 2,209 sneakers with 20+ sales in both windows.
Retail: StockX’s listed retail price. Sparklines: monthly medians, January 2025 to September 2026, June 2026 left out (a gap in StockX records).
